Biography

I attended The London College of Furniture in London and studied for 4 years to qualify as a Piano Technician with  BTec. HND and City and Guilds qualifications.

On leaving college I gained a large part of the Surrey Schools Contract and spent 2 years servicing a huge number and variety of pianos  all over that large county.

When the Schools Contract came to an end I decided to build up my own piano tuning and repair round in and around the Colchester area.

In 1990 I passed the entrance exam of Piano Tuners' Association (the PTA) our professional Association. I have regularly attended PTA Training and Conventions to keep up with latest techniques and developments in the trade. From 2009 I served for 6 years on the Executive Council, two of those as Vice President of the PTA from 2013-2015.

I am pleased to say that I have an excellent reputation and have had well over 600 customers including Piano and Music Teachers, Schools and Professionals. I have also completely reconditioned and restored many of my customers own instruments over the last 36 years.

After a few years tuning, I became so disappointed by the dreadful cheap pianos my customers were buying on auction sites and the like, that I started to sell good quality pianos including reconditioned quality Yamahas. These have proved incredibly popular. In the last few years I found a brilliant quality 'silent' system that I now add to select Yamahas and also by request for customers. This amazing system is not Yamahas own silent system but is the best I have found and allows you to have a real piano that converts to a fabulous digital one at the flickk of a switch. This way you can use headphones when you want to, but with the same piano, keyboard and mechanism as you always use.

My other interests include  composing, tennis and playing the piano of course!
